Something strange happened these past days.
I have this old red car that my uncle lend me for a few months.
When we left for our holidays the car was parked in our street in front of our building.
I remember even saying bye to her on the morning we left to Philis ![]()
So you can imagine the shock when coming back after 3 weeks, a bit f*cked up after 22 hours of travelling, we couldn’t find the car anymore!
So first thing it did after three weeks of crazy holidays, was drop the bags down and go to the cops! The car had not been moved by the police, so it had been stollen. Followed a couple of visits both from my uncle and me to report it.
Fast forward to yesterday evening….I’m cruising on my bike…
Ok since a few days I was getting paranoid every time I saw a red car.
But yesterday I was not paying attention anymore. And at one moment I stop at a red light, waiting to cross the street.
Guess who was parked just there in front of me?
What followed is a 3 hours adventure with the cops, having them to come check the car, going back with them to declare the discovery, going back to the car…
Cops are ok though. They were friendly allright. It’s just that they are a bit slow, not always very bright… ![]()
But the crazy part is the car. It was clearly visible that it had been broke into through the driver’s window. But otherwise it was completly intact!
How did they start it? how did they go around? why did they leave it less than 1km from our place? Who knows…I think I was a bit in the matrix….
Gonna buy a “Shit happens” bumper sticker for the car…

As the fifth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks approaches, Loose Change has become a magnet for those who have come to believe the worst about their government.
Mount Mayon is almost a symbol of the Philippines. It’s a beautifully coned shaped volcanoe. I donno why but it decide to celebrate our arrival and is giving out a fire show right now…

A volcano in the Philippines sent six explosions of ash about a half mile into the air Monday, prompting authorities to warn that an eruption appeared imminent and to evacuate tens of thousands of people.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology raised the alert for the 8,118-foot Mayon volcano to Level 4, the second-highest level. Officials also extended the government’s permanent “danger zone” from 4.3 miles to 5 miles on the volcano’s southern side.
About 35,000 villagers were being evacuated Monday, and an additional 20,000 people will be moved out if there is a major eruption, said Gov. Fernando Gonzalez of Albay province, about 210 miles southeast of Manila on Luzon island.Mayon is one of the Philippines’ 22 active volcanos. Its most violent eruption, in 1814, killed more than 1,200 people and buried a town in mud. A 1993 eruption killed 79 people.
The Philippines is in the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” where volcanic activity and earthquakes are common.
Oups…
Next saturday we are on the move to the Philippines! We are going there for about 3 weeks. We are flying through Bahrain, and since we have a four hours stopover we might try to go around to check out something else as the airport’s lounges! ![]()
To prepare the trip we got some really good advices from friends who lived in Manilla or went there on holidays already, but we also had good mail exchanges with people over there, had a lot of replies on questions left on the Lonely Planet’s forum, and read good reviews on places to stay or things to do on travel sites like tripadvisor. Internet really changes everything, and brings people closer. Plus reading about people who stayed there or have done that is much more valuable.
Ok now check out this video which should make you want to go to the Philippines too!

Pressure is building up before tonight’s world cup final and the french are showing their support for their team. Above here is the Assemblee Nationale, home of the french parliament.
If France wins, prepare yourself to hear this song all summer long :

This is how the Champs Elysees looked like yesterday evening following France’s win against Portugal in the World Cup semi-finals : thousands of people gathering to celebrate and sing “Zizou, il a marque! Zizou il a marque!”. More pics here. Allez les bleus!

This graph is from our blog's stat module. 50.893 people read our feed last week!!!
You don't believe that? We neither!

It’s been a busy WE – partywise! Starting with a live disco show on friday and climaxing with Pilou’s heavy metal birthday party – with a rockabilly flavor and a lot of broken teeth - on saturday night, we just had enough energy to chill in sunny Paris in the afternoon before taking it easy most of the sunday…

Ozren from nudo had blogged a couple of month ago about the ‘lion symbol’ that is used by Mobiado on its luxury mobile phone. Since then I donno why but I’m spoting this symbol in many places. Of course in some way, you cannot miss it on all the Peugeot cars. But I’ve also seen it on a skateboard deck in obsession and then – much more worrying – tagged and sticked on walls in the city center of Ljubljana…

That’s it! I’m officially Swiss! Me happy!
Flash back :
November 1977 : I was born in Thalwil, near Zurich.
Beginning of 2002 : I started the process to obtain the swiss nationality.
May 2002 : First interview with the local autorities in Leysin
November 2002 : Naturalisation interview with the official jury in Leysin
July 2005 : The members of the Leysin municipality accepted my demand of naturalisation with an unamimous vote (oldschool rules!)
8 march 2006 : I officially promised to be loyal to my new country in front of the autorities in Lausanne.
It’s been a long process but I’m really happy now, it means a lot to me because from now on if someone asks me “where to you come from?”, I won’t be answering something like “hey, you know, it’s complicated…” anymore!
I’m from Leysin.

We have a subscription to the National Geographic magazine. The february issue’s front cover article is dedicated to the Alps…and it’s suffering : glaciers covered with huge white blankets to prevent them from melting, mountain faces defigurated by extensive development of ski slopes, noise and traffic pollution generated by the 12.000.000 trucks and 50.000.000 cars crossing them…..
A few days before the start of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, it’s a good time to reflect on the future of our mountains, spreading across eight nations from Slovenija to France.

I was in Ljubljana this week for the job. Just two days – one night, so I didn’t get the time to catch up with anybody but I had a good time with my friendly collegues from Renault Slovenija!
On monday evening, we – Janez, Danilo, Quentin, Simon, Alexis and Silvo and his crew from studio orca - went to do some sledging just opposite from Stari Vrh. It’s cool coz everybody brought me a piece of gear so that I could sledge too : pants, gloves, additionnal sweaters! It was -20°C!! But we were fired up thanks to the kuhano vino and the “belokranjska kutina”! The place there is really nice, simple : in the middle of the woods, the sky was clear and filled with stars, a little fire torch every 50m to mark the track. We did the run three times, full speed and laughing out loud! The delicious goulash we had all together in the little hut at the bottom of the sledge track warmed us up and we all had a uge smile on our face….simple pleasure…only possible in sLOVEnija!Â
